On Thursday, July 10, Manuel Valls, Minister for Overseas Territories, announced the signing of a series of decrees to combat the high cost of living in overseas territories. These measures, included in the proposed 2025 anti-high cost of living law, are intended to strengthen existing measures.

Overpriced yogurts, pasta, and bottled water. In the overseas territories, the high cost of living for even the most essential goods has been rife for decades. It has led to several social crises and protest movements in Guadeloupe, Réunion, Mayotte, and, more recently, Martinique.
