Will we one day see a luxury hotel stamped Trump or even a gigantic statue of the billionaire rise in the Gaza Strip? This is the wish shared by the American president in his dream of transforming Gaza into "Côte d'Azur of the Middle East" . This Wednesday, February 26, Donald Trump shared a video created by artificial intelligence on his Truth Social account. This short 30-second film shows what the Palestinian enclave of Gaza could look like under US control.
The video begins with images of ruins, showing residents and children of Gaza moving among the rubble. And a question that appears in the colors of the United States: " What's next? " This is where the madness begins. Skyscrapers, yachts anchored in the bay, luxury cars and palm trees. We then discover an AI-generated Elon Musk enjoying a wheat pancake or in a suit on the beach, handing out wads of greenbacks to smiling vacationers.
Unsurprisingly, the images multiply orientalist clichés. We see in a jumble, bearded women performing a dance or even a very Ottoman-style minaret piercing the sky of Gaza. The clip ends with a surprising image, showing the American president and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu , bare-chested and lying side by side on deckchairs, sipping a cocktail on the terrace of a hotel bearing Trump's name. In the soundtrack of this video, a song also created by artificial intelligence chants Trump's Gaza - number 1 .
Donald Trump's ambitions regarding the Palestinian enclave thus seem to be coming to fruition. On February 4, the President of the United States presented his project for Gaza during a press conference in the presence of Benjamin Netanyahu . "The United States will take control of the Gaza Strip ," to "own it in the long term," declared the American president. "We will be responsible for dismantling all dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons. Raze everything, get rid of destroyed buildings ," added Donald Trump, provoking the astonishment of his allies and international observers. France had reacted by declaring that the future of Gaza lies in "a future Palestinian state" and not in the control of "a third country . "
The American president has never hidden his dual political and business role: the former real estate magnate assumes that he dreams of becoming the builder of "the Côte d'Azur of the Middle East", in order to "create economic development that will provide an infinite number of jobs and housing for the inhabitants of the region." For the Gazans, he envisages the construction of "quality housing, magnificent cities" , built in "four, five or six zones" "in Egypt, in Jordan" .
In response to the US president's remarks, high-ranking representatives of the Gulf countries, Egypt and Jordan met in Riyadh on Friday, February 21, at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS). The goal: to examine an Egyptian proposal for the reconstruction of Gaza and to show unified opposition to Donald Trump's plan. The proposal will be submitted on March 4 in Cairo, during an emergency summit organized by the Arab League countries.
