Doubs. Lumpy skin disease: panic among cattle breeders

This viral disease, which cannot be transmitted to humans, emerged in late June in Savoie and Haute-Savoie. The Doubs region has been spared for the moment, but on farms, such as the Gaec du Soleil Levant in Écurcey, the spread of this epizootic, which was previously unknown in France, is being closely monitored. With trepidation and fingers crossed.
No one had ever heard of contagious lumpy skin disease (CLD) in France before its appearance at the very end of June on farms in Savoie and Haute-Savoie.
As of July 20, 33 outbreaks of this cattle disease had been identified by government services in these two departments of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
