Economy. Daniel Baal, President of Crédit Mutuel, appointed head of the French Banking Federation (FBF)

Daniel Baal, who has been Vice President since September 2024, will serve in this role for one year, in accordance with the professional association's statutes.
Crédit Mutuel (*) Chairman Daniel Baal will take over the rotating presidency of the French Banking Federation (FBF) on September 1, the latter announced on Wednesday, following in the footsteps of Société Générale CEO Slawomir Krupa.
Daniel Baal, who has been Vice President since September 2024, will serve in this role for one year, in accordance with the professional association's statutes.
"Given the scale of the industrial, digital, ecological and societal challenges facing our country, the French banking sector is a major asset," commented Mr. Baal, quoted in a press release.
320 French and foreign banks grouped togetherThe banker, also chairman of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, took the reins of Crédit Mutuel in spring 2024. A French banking lobby created in 2001, the FBF brings together 320 French and foreign banks operating in France.
Its mission is "to promote banking and financial activity in France, Europe, and internationally." Its CEO is Maya Atig.
The head of Crédit Mutuel will be assisted by the CEO of BNP Paribas, Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, Vice-President, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Banque Postale, Stéphane Dedeyan, Treasurer.
Daniel Baal will join Slawomir Krupa on the executive committee, as well as Nicolas Namias, Chairman of the Management Board of BPCE, and Olivier Gavalda, Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole SA.
