Energy check: the government's new version worries associations
Consumer associations are taking a dim view of the new version of the energy check that will be made official by the government.
The government is preparing to formalize the new version of the energy check . Each year, more than 5 million French people receive this aid, intended for low-income households to help them pay their gas and electricity bills.
Its amount varies between 48 and 277 euros, but the problem is that since the end of the housing tax , the administration has had a hard time identifying those who are eligible. After two years of procrastination, the government has decided. Eligible people will be identified using tax files cross-referenced with those of energy suppliers (EDF, TotalEnergie, Engie, among others...).
