On foot or by bike, the public is invited to take the Farm Tour in Osthoffen, Breuschwickersheim, Achenheim, and Kolbsheim this Sunday, June 15. Eleven partners—farmers, a cooperative, and a vegetable processing company—will open their doors, offering food, sales of homemade products, and entertainment.

The eleventh edition of the Tour des fermes , an event coordinated by the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg with the Alsace and Bio Chamber of Agriculture in Grand Est, will therefore be touring the west of the region this Sunday, June 15. Three circuits (14, 15 and 21 km) are marked out to explore eleven partners with diverse activities: viticulture, market gardening, sugar beet production, poultry and sheep farming, potato growing, field crops, etc. This is an opportunity to meet farmers, learn about their techniques and practices, taste and have fun.

Two Vélhop reception points will allow those without a bike to hop on a bike and ride the Tour des Fermes. Classic, electric, and cargo bikes will be available free of charge at the Osthoffen reception point (Ruhsessel) and at EARL Steinbronn in Breuschwickersheim – a deposit check and ID are required to guarantee the bike's return.

Among the activities, a tour through the vineyards interspersed with demonstrations, in Osthoffen. In Breuschwickersheim, there are walks to observe wild plants (Diemer farm, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.), guided tours of agricultural buildings with the Association for the Preservation of Alsatian Houses (EARL Schaub at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.), visits to greenhouses and market garden plots (Pierre Bernhardt farm), an exhibition of vintage tractors at the Comptoir agricole, and even fries tastings and a potato peeling competition (EARL Steinbronn). The Vegetable Factory reveals its operations and its commitment to promoting local production.

In Achenheim, the Hecker and Lienhard farms provide information on Label Rouge poultry farming, beekeeping, and the Alsatian hamster, and offer demonstrations on flour production and brandy tastings. The Xavier Kordian farm (organic farming) showcases the sheep industry through sheep shearing (11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) and working with sheepdogs (3 p.m.).

Finally, in Kolbsheim, the Thibaut Diemer farm offers tours of greenhouses and market garden plots, and information on the legume sector. Most of the partners will have catering options and fresh produce for sale: don't forget your basket!
