Football. OL has raised €117 million to save its place in Ligue 1.

In a statement sent late Friday evening, OL provided an update on its financial situation and disclosed the financial data presented to the DNCG. While various figures had circulated, including a sum of €200 million, a sum of €117 million was needed to overturn the decision to relegate the club to Ligue 2, issued on July 9 on appeal, which had been taken at first instance by the DNCG on June 24.
"On the financial side, the needs for the 2025-2026 financial year are covered by the cash available in the group's (OL) bank accounts as of June 30, 2025, supplemented by a contribution of EUR 87 million made by the shareholders of Eagle Football Holdings (which oversees OL and the Brazilian and Belgian clubs Botafogo and Molenbeek), as well as a bank guarantee of EUR 30 million to cover any additional needs," the press release states.

"Thanks to this injection of liquidity, the company's business continuity is no longer dependent on the operations carried out by Eagle Football Holdings in connection with the sale of shares held in Crystal Palace (English 1st division) and an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)," OL continued.
"The forecasts for the 2025-2026 season demonstrate an ability to cover all operating needs and to meet the financial commitments made to the main suppliers and agents as well as the settlement of social debts with the establishment of payment schedules," the press release further states.
"We had to show that we had enough cash to run the club for the entire season with the promise of respecting all the rules (of the DNCG)," explained the new president, the American businesswoman Michele Kang , since the withdrawal of John Textor announced on June 30, during a press conference organized Wednesday evening at the Groupama stadium .
With its survival, OL also managed to keep its ticket to the Europa League with a financial agreement negotiated, including a fine of 12.5 million euros and 37.5 million euros suspended, with UEFA.
The Rhone club will release a press release on July 28 on the activity for the 2024-2025 financial year ending June 30, 2025.
