Gas bills on the rise, explanations

Starting today, our gas bills are increasing because the cost of transmission—that is, the cost of using and maintaining gas networks—is rising by 6%. Why? Because there are fewer and fewer customers, so fixed costs are spread among fewer people. On average, this will increase bills by 1.4%.
