Late payments: in France, a major factor in the weakening of businesses that continues to worsen

More and more companies are closing their doors due to failure to receive timely payments. In its annual report, the Payment Deadlines Observatory denounces the poor behavior of large corporations.
By Erwan BenezetIt's an insidious disease that has been crippling our economy for many years. After a relative respite in 2023, the time it takes companies to pay their customers is getting longer again, according to the Payment Delay Observatory, which has published its 2024 annual report.
"This highly anticipated report indeed presents a worrying observation," warns Véronique Louwagie, the Minister Delegate for Trade, Crafts, and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. "Payment delays are on the rise again, reaching an average of 13.6 days at the end of 2024, one day more than the previous year. And in the first quarter of this year, we even reached 14 days. We are now above the European average."
