On Friday, May 16, Emmanuel Macron proposed confirming Olivier Sichel's nomination to head the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations. He will have to pass the hearings before the Finance Committees of the National Assembly and the Senate.

Emmanuel Macron proposed on Friday, May 16, confirming Olivier Sichel's name as interim head of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC), a position he already holds on an interim basis, the Élysée Palace announced.

"The President of the Republic is considering, on the proposal of the Prime Minister, appointing Mr. Olivier Sichel as Director General of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations," details the presidential press release.

The man who took over on an interim basis from Eric Lombard , who was appointed Minister of the Economy in December, will now have to pass the test of hearings before the Finance Committees of the National Assembly and the Senate, before seeing his appointment validated as Director General of the CDC.

His nomination could be blocked if at least three-fifths of the votes cast by parliamentarians on these two committees oppose it.

A graduate of the ENA (National School of Administration), Olivier Sichel joined the CDC in 2018. At 58, he served as Director of Banque des Territoires, a Caisse des Dépôts group entity. He also headed Wanadoo and founded the Digital New Deal, a digital think tank.
