The prefect of Gard, Jérôme Bonet, has given Nestlé Waters two months to comply and remove the filters from its Perrier natural mineral waters in Gard. In the commune of Vergèze, residents live to the rhythm of revelations and court decisions.

" We're not kept informed of anything at all. Management doesn't inform us of what's going on. Among colleagues, it's also a taboo subject. For me, it's a concern I can't share with anyone, " notes Nathalie*, a regular temporary employee at Perrier. In Vergèze, in the factory, as in the streets, it's a state of silence. " I don't want to talk about it ," says one. " I have nothing to say to anyone about it ," says another, before quickly disappearing, away from the journalists' cameras. Their presence has become common in this small town of fewer than 6,000 inhabitants. In addition to the "thorn in the side" of Perrier, the American glass giant OI has also announced the possible closure of its Vergèze glassworks.
