Violence. During this first day of the trial of three former Ubisoft executives for sexual and moral harassment, plaintiffs were able to tell their stories and their fears, and a first defendant was questioned.
The man who takes the stand first is tall. This time, he's not wearing a kilt. And his imposing curly red hair, a reminder of his days of impunity in Ubisoft's creative department, has turned gray and been shaved. For several minutes, perhaps among the longest of his life, he listened, on Monday morning, June 2, to the list of accusations against him in the Bobigny Criminal Court : moral and sexual harassment and attempted sexual assault, when he was an executive—vice president of the editorial division—of the flagship French video game company.
Thomas, known as Tommy François, remains impassive, his gaze fixed, his head slightly lowered. His successor at the bar, Serge Hascoët, is having difficulty staying still. He regularly shakes his head in irritation. "Any difficulties, sir?" asks the president, interrupting her list. Then, regularly listening to the accusations, he turns back to the room and searches. A victim? A witness? A supporter?
