Paris: Flooded with calls, the town hall's telephone advisors are on strike

This Tuesday, June 3rd at 8 a.m., a dozen call center operators from 3975, the City of Paris's call center, gathered on a sidewalk bordering the capital's city hall. Not one of them had left the door to go to work. They had already been on strike on Monday, protesting the workload imposed on them. within this public service which received more than a million calls in 2024, according to the town hall . "We really feel abandoned, there is no recognition of the hardships," laments Sophie (1), a postal worker. Made up mainly of women, the service, which receives calls from all Parisians who question the policies implemented by the municipality or sometimes their district town hall, is at the end of its rope. Of the 90 people who work there, 33 are disabled, 11 are part-time and 6 are on long-term sick leave. The result: for those who are at their posts, the calls are piling up. "On average, I make about 80 calls a day. And I take breaks! If you don't take any, you can get to 100," continues Corinne (1), her eyes dark.
