"Who better than Renault to service your Renault?" It's not just Stellantis that is facing vehicle recalls . Owners of 15,722 Renault R5 electric vehicles, including ten examples of its A290 sports version, have been warned of a "potential inability to start" of their vehicle and invited to make an appointment, the Renault group said on Tuesday.
The group invites its customers "to make an appointment with a representative from our network" in order to proceed "free of charge" with the "reprogramming of the main electric motor inverter calculator" , Renault indicated, confirming press information.
This "technical operation" lasts "30 minutes" , Renault specified, which considers that it is not a recall in the regulatory sense, "not being a safety issue" . The operation should make it possible to "avoid a potential inability to start, accompanied or not by the display of the STOP light and the message "Electric engine failure" on the dashboard" , Renault specified.
The group, which states that it carries out "continuous monitoring and surveillance of the vehicles it places on the market, throughout their entire lifespan", stresses that its monitoring systems "may lead it, if necessary, to preventively recall vehicles" . This operation concerns 15,722 Renault R5 vehicles, including 10 Alpine A290 vehicles, among those manufactured between September 1, 2024 and December 23, 2024 at the Douai plant.
