Saône-et-Loire. UFC-Que Choisir: Scams are on the rise and appeals are becoming increasingly complex.

At the offices of the Chalon branch of UFC-Que Choisir, located at Espace Jean-Zay at 4 rue Jules-Ferry, distraught consumers are welcomed so they can leave feeling more informed and responsible. Telephone scams, breached guarantees, bank fraud—the list of disputes is long, and many are victims.

Every Tuesday afternoon, the UFC organizes consultations to handle consumer disputes and advise them on their procedures. In total, approximately 150 cases are handled each year. These weekly meetings are necessary, according to volunteer Yvette Ravet. "People need to be listened to; we get to know them before helping them." Sometimes, just a piece of advice is enough. For other cases, longer support is necessary.

The goal behind these meetings is to establish a dialogue between the two parties. Assisted by Florence Nectoux, a lawyer at the Mâcon branch, the volunteers study cases together...
