The Lyon Metropolis helps retailers green their last-mile logistics

On Thursday, July 17, the Lyon Metropolitan Area presented its Marguerite catalog: a catalog of solutions to help artisans and retailers reduce the carbon footprint of their activities.
Last-mile logistics is a major challenge in all metropolitan areas. It refers to the final stage of an order's journey from a warehouse or store to the customer's home. To support its artisans and retailers toward more sustainable and cost-effective last-mile logistics, the Lyon Metropolitan Area has decided to implement the Marguerite program.
The objective: To provide a catalog of urban logistics solutions to help artisans and traders reduce or optimize the use of professional vehicles, while generating energy savings.
"Craftspeople and retailers in the Lyon metropolitan area will be able to access services that reduce their environmental impact and save them time. It's also an opportunity to discover supplier companies, which can become potential partners," says Jean-Charles Kohlhaas, vice-president of the Lyon metropolitan area in charge of travel.
Since Thursday, July 17, the Lyon Metropolitan Area has been offering its artisans and retailers a catalog of twenty solutions selected through a call for expressions of interest. These solutions, tailored to the Lyon metropolitan area, cover a wide range of services: From cycle logistics with "Baguette à bycylette," a 100% cargo bike delivery solution for general caterers. To waste disposal with Serfim Recycling, which offers construction industry artisans a sorting and construction waste collection solution.
Procurement solutions also enable more sustainable delivery to professionals, such as "Le fourgon," a sustainable delivery solution for returnable products. Meanwhile, digital optimization solutions such as "Woop" allow retailers to optimize their routes thanks to its route calculation service.
