A new medical-social residence for seniors inaugurated in Vaulx-en-Velin

A new medical-social residence for seniors was inaugurated by the Lyon Metropolitan Area this Friday, June 27 in Vaux-en-Velin.
On Friday, June 27, a new medical-social residence was inaugurated in Vaulx-en-Velin. Named Paul-Henri Chapuy, the facility offers 180 places, including 120 in nursing homes and 60 in long-term care units. A day center, a center for adapted care activities for residents with moderate cognitive impairment, and sheltered living units complete the facility's offerings.
Fully approved for social assistance, the residence was able to benefit from aid from the Lyon Metropolitan Area to the tune of 3.36 million euros, as well as 5.76 million euros in funding from the Regional Health Agency (ARS). For its part, the city of Vaulx-en-Velin sold the land to the ACPPA senior living group for a symbolic one euro.
The residence was designed to enable seniors to maintain a connection with the outside world. To this end, certain areas of the site are accessible to families, volunteers, and local residents. The living spaces are intentionally shared to preserve social connections and create spaces for social interaction.
To prevent risks and avoid falls, the facility is equipped with a sound monitoring system and very low-height beds. Several other home automation systems are installed within the facility to allow residents greater independence if they so desire.
