Blood donation: tattoos, piercings... everything that changes on September 1st

This is one of the most significant changes. Until now, after getting a tattoo or piercing, you had to wait four months before being able to donate blood. This waiting period will now be reduced to two months. This measure will allow many people, especially younger people, to donate blood more quickly after completing their plan.
Certain medical and cosmetic procedures: a wait also shortened
In the same vein, the waiting period after certain medical or cosmetic procedures is also reduced from four to two months. This applies to:
Acupuncture sessions; Varicose vein sclerosis; Mesotherapy; Endoscopy performed with a flexible instrument. Dental implants: the end of a contraindication
More good news for people who have had dental implants with bone substitutes: this procedure will no longer be a reason to exclude them from donating blood. This former contraindication is therefore completely lifted.
Safety, always the number one priority
It is important to emphasize that this relaxation does not come at the expense of the safety of the patients who will receive the blood products. Each donation will continue to be subject to rigorous screening. The health questionnaire and confidential interview with a healthcare professional remain key and mandatory steps to ensure that each donation is safe.
