Côte-d'Or. Medical deserts and doctors' settlements: the controversial text approved by the deputies

Despite strong tensions surrounding the text, it was adopted at first reading in the National Assembly on Wednesday, May 7. The outcry led 300 people to demonstrate on April 29 in Dijon during a movement launched by representatives of private doctors and medical students and interns, which echoed a vast national gathering in Paris. Already in April, the examination and validation of its key article, which regulates the establishment of doctors in the territory, had caused a reaction.
The text's detractors were still hoping "that it would be rejected en bloc or moderated," laments Mélanie Debarreix, president of the Association of Dijon Hospital Interns, disappointed by Wednesday's vote: "One fifth of the deputies were present [108 out of 557, editor's note] and decided for everyone, it is absolutely not representative.
