Moselle. Heatwave: Forbach schools closed until Friday, minimum reception service in place

Due to the high temperatures expected this week, the mayor of Forbach has decided to close schools in his town starting Monday, June 30th at noon. However, a minimum childcare service is being provided for parents who have no childcare options.
The decision has just been made by the City of Forbach, in consultation with teachers, the inspectorate, and parents. Due to the high temperatures forecast for this week, the six nursery and elementary schools will be closed from Monday, June 30, at noon, to Thursday, July 3 inclusive. "The schools will be open one last time on Friday, as families always like to spend one last moment with the teachers before the holidays," announced Forbach Mayor Alexandre Cassaro.
A minimum childcare service will be provided by National Education staff to meet the needs of parents who have no childcare options. "We are looking for the most suitable locations in each school, in each neighborhood," the elected official said. In the Bellevue neighborhood, this will be at the kindergarten, where classrooms are air-conditioned. In the center, on the floor of the media library, which is also air-conditioned.

This Monday morning, the temperature rose to 31 degrees in some classrooms, such as at the Creutzberg school. "This is unbearable for the teaching staff, the city officials, or the students," acknowledges Alexandre Cassaro. The city has undertaken major renovation, roofing, and insulation work in schools. This seems to be bearing fruit. "In Bellevue, the temperature was raised to 25 degrees, in Bruch to 26," the mayor said.
Mist sprayersDeliveries of bottled water and mist sprays, which the City has in stock due to the heatwave plan or which it will order urgently, are planned for all schools.
In Behren-lès-Forbach, the three schools will be closed this Monday and Tuesday.
