Saulieu: A day hospital has just opened to support elderly patients.

A day hospital for medical care and specialized rehabilitation (SMR) opened its doors in Saulieu on June 3. This service, intended for residents over the age of 65 who are still living at home, allows patients requiring care and support to remain at home and remain independent to be admitted to the town hospital on an ad hoc basis.

Marie-Thérèse is smiling. At 90 years old, this resident of La Roche-en-Brenil is among the first people to benefit from the new care offered at the SMR (medical and rehabilitation care) day hospital in Saulieu. This brand-new service opened its doors in early June in the premises of the current hospital.

And seeing the smile on the retiree's face, there's no doubt she appreciates this new offer.

“Honestly, I love it. We feel well taken care of here,” confides Marie-Thérèse before moving on to the exercises; first a motor skills course with hoops, then a few passes with the adapted physical activity teacher. “What I like is the fact that the exercises are varied.
