Velars-sur-Ouche. Gardens and Health Association: They are showing off their garden this weekend.

Founded in 2004, the Jardins & Santé association focused on supporting the design of gardens in hospitals and medico-social institutions. Since its creation, more than a hundred projects have been carried out in France. The study conducted by Thérèse Jonveaux, neurologist and coordinator of the Lorraine Memory, Resource and Research Center at the Nancy University Hospital, demonstrated the benefits of nature in hospitals by reducing the number of hospital days if patients have a view of the surrounding nature from their rooms.
For three days and in order to help the Jardins & Santé association of which they are members, Hervé and Chantal Morey are opening their garden to the public located at 14, rue de la Charme in Velars-sur-Ouche as part of the Rendez-vous aux jardins operation of the Ministry of Culture.
In this haven of peace, you can discover, in the heart of the village, a garden of perennials and roses known as a cottage on several levels. On an area of 1,000 m 2 , on the hillside, nestle a main building, a small guest house, a chicken coop and a children's cabin whose style will delight young and old.
The constraints of the slight slope have given rise to several ornamental gardens and a square vegetable garden where flowers and plants interact with the vegetable plants.
While the chickens enjoy a fitness trail and a stylish henhouse, visitors can admire clematis and rose bushes with poetic names. This year, during these three days, two exhibitions are offered, one with a commentary on the butterflies of Velars-sur-Ouche and its surroundings, the second with the sale of original creations of decorative plaques. On Sunday, June 8, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., you can enjoy a musical moment offered by the gypsy jazz duo Gadjo Divio.
"By opening our garden to visitors, with the funds raised and donated entirely to the association, we are helping to finance the creation of gardens in hospitals and medico-social establishments. Recently, three gardens received grants, two in Saône-et-Loire and one in Côte-d'Or, at the day hospital, Les Cigognes, in Valmy," explains Hervé Morey.
Information: Admission is €4 for those over 18. Visit the gardens on Friday, June 6 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., June 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on other days after June 8 by appointment at 06 30 20 24 16.
