"I have a chance of beating the RN": François Ruffin looks ahead to the 2027 presidential election

Having just launched his "Debout" movement, Somme MP François Ruffin claims to have "a chance" of beating the National Rally in the next presidential election in 2027.

"I claim that I have a chance of beating the RN and of succeeding in building a popular figure who speaks to both the town and the surrounding area, who speaks to the neighborhood and the surrounding area," François Ruffin told BFMTV this Saturday, June 28.

The Somme MP particularly criticized the record of the leader of La France Insoumise. "We see that today, clearly, Jean-Luc Mélenchon was soundly beaten in the second round by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, and by just about all the candidates," he chided. "He even says that, in his opinion, it's the magic of the second round that will allow him to resolve this."

Certain that he did not want to make false promises to the French, François Ruffin added ironically that he does not "claim to preside over Hogwarts House." "I do not claim to be Harry Potter and have a magic wand," he insisted, referring to JK Rowling's saga.

"I'm here to say that left-wing voters will have to choose who is capable of beating Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella in the second round. Personally, in my constituency, where the National Rally (RN) has come out on top in national elections every time, we've beaten them three times. Three times, we've turned the tide," he said.

Outgoing candidate of the New Popular Front, François Ruffin was in fact re-elected as deputy of the Somme for a 3rd term in July 2024 , with 52.95% of the votes.
