'Don't look away': Unions call for September 6 demonstrations to demand ceasefire and peace in Palestine

Three-quarters of the Palestinians detained by Israel since October 2023 are civilians . The Trump administration plans to relocate the entire population of the Palestinian territory, which would be placed under US administration for ten years to transform it into a tourist and technology center .
The UN estimates that more than half a million Gazans are in dire need of food . Israel is deliberately killing Gazan journalists to prevent the world from witnessing the genocide in the Gaza Strip. At least 21,000 children are living with disabilities caused by the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas since October 7, 2023, more than half of all injured children.
This information is only a few days old, and bears witness to the constant hell that the Palestinians are living through, particularly the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip. The trade union organizations CFDT, CGT, Solidaires and FSU "condemn this ignominy and the deadly headlong rush of the Israeli authorities, as well as the complicit silence of a part of the international community."
The inter-union thus formed calls in a press release "not to look away from what is happening in Gaza" and to mobilize on Saturday, September 6, "everywhere in France, for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, to put an end to the blockade and for a just and lasting peace."
The trade union organisations CFDT, CGT, Solidaires and FSU "protest against these serious and massive violations of international law and human rights as well as against these acts of genocidal intent documented and denounced by a UN Commission of Inquiry" .
They are also alarmed by "the acceleration of colonization in the occupied West Bank" , notably through the E1 project which provides for the formation of a continuous bloc of Israeli colonies aimed at cutting the West Bank in two, compromising Palestinian territorial continuity and the viability of a future Palestinian state.
The trade union organisations are therefore once again calling on French and European leaders to "suspend the EU-Israel association agreement " , to put an end to the supply of arms to the genocidal state , and to implement the United Nations resolution aimed at ending the occupation of Palestinian territories, colonisation and apartheid.
They also call for " support for the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice," for recognition of the State of Palestine, and for the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian political prisoners. Finally, they call for "working towards building a just and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis based on equal rights ."
We were one of the first French media outlets to defend the Palestinians' right to a viable state in accordance with UN resolutions. And we have tirelessly defended peace in the Middle East. Help us continue to inform you about what's happening there. Thanks to your donations. I want to know more!
