He takes as an example the Nahel affair , this 17-year-old teenager, killed by a bullet fired at point-blank range by a police officer during a traffic stop in June 2023, which led to nights of riots throughout France . "In the Nahel affair, it was the video surveillance cameras that made it possible to say who was at fault," recalls the socialist deputy of Seine-et-Marne.

"If in the next few hours, we arrive not just at a truce, but at a ceasefire that will help lead to a political solution, then indeed, I would applaud that. But we are very far from that," declared the socialist leader.

Olivier Faure insists that the only way to resolve the conflict is to "reach a political solution, a two-state solution that coexists, that ensures mutual security. I'm obviously thinking of a Palestinian state alongside an Israeli state. And an end to colonization."
