A senator from the Rhône region questions Jean-Michel Aulas's "strange campaign"

Rhône Senator Thomas Dossus (The Ecologists) particularly points out the lack of clarity regarding Jean-Michel Aulas' campaign funding.
"Can a multimillionaire buy an election campaign?" While a recent poll conducted by Toluna-Harris Interactive put Jean-Michel Aulas ahead in voting intentions for the first round of the Lyon municipal elections, the financing of this same poll is a matter of concern for Rhône senator Thomas Dossus (Les Écologistes).

On his X account, the latter posted several publications on "a strange campaign." He explains: "The sale of OL was officially supposed to be used by Holnest (Jean-Michel Aulas's family holding company: Editor's note) to invest in tech. Part of these private funds is now being used to finance polls for an electoral campaign via Holnest." A method that is surprising, especially since, "unlike in the USA, there are rules in France for financing electoral campaigns, or for separating the assets of a company from those of its directors. We had the debate on this confusion between income and assets among multimillionaires when we debated the Zucman Tax at the beginning of the month," the senator writes.
Thomas Dossus thus poses the question: "Can a multimillionaire buy an election campaign?" He remains in any case "convinced" that "our rules must protect us from an American-style system. Everyone can stand for election, while respecting the rules of the Republic," he concludes.
