At the heart of the Parisian mobilization for Gaza

Five unions, CFDT, CGT, Unsa, Solidaires and FSU, joined by left-wing parties such as the PCF, PS, LFI and EELV, had called for a "massive" mobilization as part of a global weekend of mobilizations . In Paris, the demonstration, bringing together several thousand people, set off from Place de la République towards the Nation.

"Our political, civic, moral, and ethical responsibility consists of deviating, disobeying, and taking all necessary actions that allow us to enforce international law and put an end to the genocide," declared Rima Hassan, a member of the European Parliament who was present at the procession. Rima Hassan was detained for three days in Israel following the seizure of a humanitarian sailboat on which she was sailing with other activists heading for Gaza.

During the demonstration, slogans such as "Free Palestine" and "We are all children of Gaza" could be heard, and many participants denounced France's position, which they considered conciliatory and even "complicit" with the Netanyahu government.

"The goal is to ride this humanitarian wave and combat hatred through peaceful demonstrations," said Syrine, a university graduate with a degree in health. "No matter where we live, no matter our religion, we will always be there to defend humanity," emphasized Farah, her classmate. Myriam Lebkiri, confederal secretary of the CGT, reiterated the CGT's principle regarding arms shipments through French ports: "No material for manufacturing weapons will be sent to any location where the CGT is established."

Other demonstrations were organized in France, such as Marseille, Rennes, and Toulouse. More than 54,880 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in the Israeli retaliatory offensive in Gaza, according to data from the Hamas Health Ministry, deemed reliable by the UN. The Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, resulted in the deaths of 1,219 people on the Israeli side, mostly civilians. Of the 251 people abducted at the time, 54 remain in Gaza, at least 32 of whom have died, according to Israeli authorities.

We were one of the first French media outlets to defend the Palestinians' right to a viable state in accordance with UN resolutions. And we have tirelessly defended peace in the Middle East. Help us continue to inform you about what's happening there. Thanks to your donations. I want to know more!
