Emmanuel Macron guest on a special program on the evening of May 13 on TF1
President Emmanuel Macron will be the guest of a special program on TF1 on May 13th starting at 8:10 p.m., during which he will answer questions live from Gilles Bouleau on national and international news, the channel announced Monday.
Titled "Emmanuel Macron - The Challenges of France," the two-hour program will allow "several figures from civil society" to address the head of state, who will also "respond to viewers," according to a press release.
Emmanuel Macron could discuss plans for a referendum , according to a source close to the president. He had indicated in his New Year's wishes for 2025 that the French would be asked to "decide" on key issues.
Prime Minister François Bayrou has put forward the idea of such a consultation on "an overall plan" for reducing deficits , a path greeted with scepticism by the political class, both left and right.
The president's entourage also believes that it is possible to ask several questions on the same day and Emmanuel Macron is studying different hypotheses on subjects, including the territorial organization of the State.
The televised meeting on Tuesday, May 13, will come after a very European week, between a major conference to attract researchers, particularly Americans, on Monday and a meeting with the new German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, on Wednesday.
The head of state is primarily focused on international affairs, while French political life has been more fractured than ever since he dissolved the National Assembly in June. Viewers "will be able to send their questions in advance on the TF1 INFO website, app, and social media, and via TF1+," the channel said, adding that it will also be revealing an Ifop study "on the state of mind and morale of the French."
Most recently, the President addressed the French people directly on television on March 5th in a speech devoted to the international situation, watched by more than 15 million viewers.
