Faulquemont. Work at the Stade school: a titanic project to be completed before the start of the school year

The last time Faulquemont undertook a project costing more than €1.5 million was for the construction of its media library in 2012-2013. This time, it's a new, mammoth project: the renovation of the Stade school complex. It will be carried out in two phases. The first began on July 7th and concerns the primary school. The second, in a year, will focus on the nursery school. The total cost of the work: €2.3 million.
During a site visit with Mayor Béatrice Kempenich and her deputy, Marcel Milazzo, a quick glance is enough to understand the scale of the work and the challenge facing the craftsmen. "By the start of the school year, the two-story building will be completely renovated," summarizes Olivier Henrion, head of technical services: "External thermal insulation, replacement of the joinery, installation of a double-flow CMV, replacement of the roof and exterior doors, renovation of the floors, walls, ceilings and stairwells..."
"This work became imperative," continue the elected officials, who date the building's construction to the 1950s. "The corridor windows were still single-glazed, generating significant heat loss. The goal of this work will also be to save on operating costs," says Béatrice Kempenich.
"To give you an idea of the project, we had around 400 window frames made in record time," says Jonathan Drha, from the ADT concept project management firm.
Around 60% of the classrooms will be renovated, with the others having already been modernized in the past.

While the construction site will have to be almost completely completed for the start of the school year on August 29 (the school year is scheduled to start on September 1), those responsible are already preparing for a major clean-up starting on August 24. The storage of furniture in the classrooms will take place at the same time. "Thanks to the work of the ASBH, we stored everything we could in the canteen , so as not to interfere with the work. It took several days to move everything. It will take the same thing to put everything back in its place," says Marcel Milazzo.

An inauguration of the new school is already planned for early September. The municipality will announce this event in due course.
