It was Renaissance Party officials who revealed it to franceinfo on Thursday, August 21: Gabriel Attal, who makes no secret of his ambitions for 2027, is working with the party he leads on the legalization of ethical surrogacy.
This work is being carried out within a new thematic convention. Launched this summer, it focuses on "new vulnerabilities." Various issues are being addressed, such as those of single mothers, new families, poverty, exclusion, and the fight against loneliness. "Gabriel Attal does not want any taboos in our discussions, without prejudging our decisions," a manager told franceinfo.
The participants in this convention will submit their conclusions in the fall. Renaissance will then take a position on ethical surrogacy. At this stage, Gabriel Attal does not plan to introduce a bill. Renaissance, however, plans to bring the debate to the next presidential election.
Ethical surrogacy "is really part of the very strong personal convictions of the former Prime Minister, now secretary general of Renaissance," assures a party official who advocates a "birth rate measure." This source raises several issues behind surrogacy, also called "surrogate motherhood" : "Equal rights and demographic and infertility issues."
Ethical surrogacy refers to surrogacy strictly regulated by law, where a woman agrees to carry a child for another person, without financial compensation.
