Greater Besançon. Billboards: A War of Arms Over the New Regulations

The local inter-municipal advertising regulations were discussed at the community council meeting this Thursday. The document, which is more restrictive than current regulations regarding billboards and signs, is due for approval next December. It is being contested by some billboard owners who say they are worried about their survival. Hence a (brief) debate among elected officials.
The debate began well before the community council meeting this Thursday, May 22. A month ago, three of the five billboard operators operating in the Greater Besançon area spoke out to express their concerns. According to them, the implementation of the future local intercommunal advertising regulations, which are more restrictive than current local regulations, will jeopardize their business.
