In La Seyne, Lydie Onteniente is seeking the LR nomination for the 2026 municipal elections.

"I have submitted my candidacy to the Republicans' national investiture commission for the 2026 municipal elections," announced Lydie Onteniente. She has been a departmental councilor since 2021 and is also a Seyne municipal councilor, elected in 2020 on the majority list. She was deputy mayor for four years, notably responsible for youth policy. Last May, she joined Jean-Pierre Colin's group and therefore finds herself in the opposition.
A member of LR since 2020, Lydie Onteniente indicates that the approach she has just undertaken aims to "represent Les Républicains and defend their colors in La Seyne during the next elections. I am from La Seyne ," she continues, "I live in my town, I have never left it and I raise my children there. The fact of being a departmental councilor for canton 1, which represents 85% of the commune, gives me a certain legitimacy. In addition, I chair the Integration and Social Action commission, the most important in the community, which is more on its main competence. And this, in a canton where social policy is fundamental. For these reasons, I therefore wish to commit myself to defending the interests of the people of La Seyne."
A possible decision in SeptemberRomain Vincent, LR party delegate in the 7th constituency, confirms that, since this is a town with more than 30,000 inhabitants, it is the national commission that issues the nominations. He indicates that "the Federation of Republicans of Var already announced, a few days ago, the first nominations for towns with more than 30,000 inhabitants, except for La Seyne and Fréjus. It must be said that there were no declared candidates yet. But there will undoubtedly be others after Lydie Onteniente."
The next meeting of the commission will likely take place at the end of September. "We'll see at that time," adds Romain Vincent, "knowing that I will be consulted as a constituency delegate." He points out that, for the previous municipal elections in 2020, the national commission did not issue a nomination for the first round, even though Sandra Torres and Nathalie Bicais had requested it. However, in the second round, Nathalie Bicais received the party's support. This scenario could recur if several LR candidates are competing for the nomination for the 2026 municipal elections.
