LR Presidency: These rare federations won by Laurent Wauquiez against Bruno Retailleau

Bruno Retailleau secured a landslide victory over Laurent Wauquiez in the election for president of the Les Républicains party. With only 25.69% of the vote, few departmental federations supported the leader of the LR deputies. The former president of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, however, retained the support of his region.
He thus won in Haute-Loire, where he is the deputy for the first constituency, with 96.2% of the vote. He also came out on top in Cantal (89.9%) and Allier (71.2%), Drôme (72.5%), Ardèche (70.3%), Puy-de-Dôme (69.7%), Loire (67.9%) and Lozère (66%).
Laurent Wauquiez also won in Hautes-Alpes (55.9%), Ain (58.5%) and Isère (53.8%).
But not all departments in the region were successful for Laurent Wauquiez. For example, in the departments of Savoie, Haute-Savoie, and Rhône, it was his opponent, Bruno Retailleau, who came out on top.
While the latter won the election by a wide margin at the national level, he also enjoyed widespread support in his region of Pays-de-la-Loire. He notably obtained 97.4% of the vote in Vendée, 93.2% in Loire-Atlantique, and 89.4% in Sartre.
The key challenge in the post-election period is to maintain party unity for Les Républicains. Laurent Wauquiez has taken a first step in this direction. According to BFMTV, he invited Bruno Retailleau to meet with LR deputies this Tuesday morning.
