Many journalists' associations are denouncing La France Insoumise's refusal to accredit a journalist from "Le Monde" to its summer universities.

The refusal of La France Insoumise (LFI) to accredit Olivier Pérou, a journalist in the political section of Le Monde responsible for monitoring the left, to its summer universities organized in Châteauneuf-sur-Isère (Drôme) from August 21 to 24, is a warning shot for our entire profession. It is not up to political parties to choose the journalists who attend their meetings, rallies, congresses, press conferences, summer universities, etc.
Media outlets other than Le Monde have already suffered similar exclusions, which have long been the preserve of far-right groups. This is a serious attack on the right to inform, and comes amid a worrying decline in press freedom, even in democracies.
We, the journalists' associations, demand that our colleague Olivier Pérou be allowed to attend the LFI summer universities.
We condemn these worrying excesses and call on political parties to respect the fundamentals of democratic life, of which they are one of the pillars.
