Moselle-Est. Established for eleven years in Forbach, the KFC® restaurant will be replaced by Quick®

The KFC® restaurant in Forbach, which opened in 2014 in the Carrefour de l'Europe shopping area, will soon close. The fast-food restaurant will be replaced by a Quick®, marking its grand return to Moselle-Est. A building permit has been issued for this purpose. KFC® employed five full-time employees and just over 70 crew members.
The KFC® restaurant in Forbach, located in the Carrefour de l'Europe shopping area, will soon close. A message published by the Forbach-based chain on social media on Monday suggested it would close as early as Thursday, August 14. While the information was widely shared, it was denied on Tuesday by the KFC® France group. The post has since been deleted.
However, the restaurant is still expected to close at the end of the summer. A building permit dated July 11, posted at the entrance to the establishment, notifies the upcoming transformation of the premises into a Quick®. The premises, approximately 500 m² in size, will be renovated.

On site this Tuesday, some customers who saw the social media post the day before are coming in one last time. "I wasn't a regular, but we liked to come as a family from time to time," confided a lunchtime customer. "We'll come and try Quick® when it opens!" The employees, for their part, are tight-lipped about the announced closure. Some have been working there for eleven years. It remains to be seen whether their jobs will be permanent.

The KFC® restaurant, specializing in chicken menus, opened its doors in 2014 at the large roundabout at Carrefour de l'Europe. Managed by a franchisee , the project represented an investment of two million euros and created nearly 80 jobs, including five full-time ones. The rest consisted of 24-hour-per-week contracts.
In recent years, the fast-food offerings in the Forbach commercial area have grown stronger and competition has intensified. McDonald's®, established there since 1994, and KFC® were joined by Big M® in 2022, then Burger King® in 2024 , as well as Chicken Royal. No fewer than five neighboring fast-food restaurants are located within a few hundred meters of each other along Rue Nationale.
A proximity that doesn't seem to worry Quick®. By opening a new restaurant in Forbach, the brand will mark its big comeback in Moselle-Est after more than ten years of absence. Its two former locations, in Freyming-Merlebach and Sarreguemines, disappeared in 2013 , transformed into Marie Blachère bakeries . Since 2021, and while it seemed to have disappeared from the landscape, the Quick® chain has made a strong comeback in France, with a strategy of offering 100% halal products in all of its restaurants. A market still ignored by its competitors. The opening date of the Forbach location is not yet known. As for KFC® fans, they will now have to go to Longeville-lès-Saint-Avold.
