Mossig and Vignoble. Three projects launched in 2018 to combat flooding

Following the traumatic floods in Wasselonne and Romanswiller in June 2016 and the multiple episodes of heavy rainfall experienced in particular in Bergbieten, a specialized design office carried out a comprehensive study of the Mossig watershed on behalf of the SDEA, the project owner (*). This framework document, presented in 2022, made it possible to build a comprehensive and phased action plan combining the development of retention basins and soft hydraulics (special triple-row hedge, fascine, grassy strip).
These solutions aim to protect the population from potential 100-year floods (similar to 2016). They "would achieve a good level of protection," says Franck Hufschmitt, director of ecological transition at SDEA.
