On TF1, Macron believes that Ukraine will not be able to "retake all" of its territory

Even the Ukrainians have the "lucidity to say" that they will not be able to retake all of their territories after the conflict with Russia, Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Tuesday evening, May 13, on the TF1 channel.
"The war must end and Ukraine must be in the best possible position to enter into negotiations," which "will allow territorial issues to be addressed. And even the Ukrainians themselves have the clarity to say (...) that they will not have the capacity to take back all of what has been taken since 2014" by Russia, declared the head of state.
The President of the Republic also emphasized his willingness to "impose sanctions," particularly against "resellers" of "financial services" or "hydrocarbons," if Russia "confirms its failure to respect" a ceasefire in Ukraine. Emmanuel Macron, however, considered that there was "no legal framework" for using frozen Russian assets , considering that it was "not a good solution."
France is "ready to open" a discussion on the deployment of French aircraft armed with nuclear "bombs" in other European countries, similar to what the Americans are doing to share their atomic umbrella , the president also announced, specifying that he would define "the framework in a very official manner in the coming weeks and months."
His appearance on the TF1 set also provided an opportunity to address several national issues. Faced with questions from the General Secretary of the CGT, Sophie Binet, Emmanuel Macron responded that he would not organize "a referendum on pension reform."
The head of state also expressed his opposition to the nationalization of Arcelor Mittal, whose management announced on April 23 the elimination of 636 jobs in its seven factories in northern France. "We are going to save [the sites of] Dunkirk and Fos, I tell you this face to face, not by nationalizing but by having a European policy that protects our steel," he maintained.
The issue of public finances also featured prominently in this hybrid interview, which featured speakers from a variety of backgrounds. Emmanuel Macron asked the government to launch "in the coming weeks" a "social conference" on "the method of financing our social model," which he said relies "far too heavily on work," citing "consumption" as one of the possible alternatives.
