Eric Dupond Moretti will appear before the press chamber of the Paris Criminal Court on April 16, 2026, France Inter learned during a preparatory hearing on Monday, May 13. The former Minister of Justice is being sued for defamation by Magistrate Edouard Levrault for comments he made in his latest show, "J'ai dit oui," currently touring France and, in June, at the Théâtre Marigny in Paris.

This trial is a new episode in a conflict that has pitted the two men against each other for ten years. Lawyer Eric Dupond-Moretti had accused the former Monegasque judge of violating investigative confidentiality in a case in which he was acting for a client. Having become Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti then initiated an administrative investigation against Edouard Levrault, but the High Council of the Judiciary concluded that the magistrate had committed no ethical misconduct.

The former judge is now accusing the former minister of making comments on stage – as well as in his eponymous book – which reaffirm that he "blithely violated the confidentiality of an investigation for which he was responsible" , according to the quote consulted by France Inter. Edouard Levrault is claiming 30,000 euros in damages from Eric Dupond Moretti and his publisher Michel Lafon.
