Public broadcasting: Rachida Dati's law rejected before even being examined

The bill on public broadcasting, put forward by the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, was rejected on Monday, June 30, following the adoption of a motion of censure tabled by Green Party deputies.
A victory for public broadcasting . On Monday, June 30, MPs overwhelmingly approved a motion by the Greens to reject the reform of public broadcasting, prematurely ending the debate on this project, which was rejected by the affected employees, who are on strike, and whose examination has been repeatedly postponed in the chamber.
94 MPs approved the motion, against 38. To everyone's surprise, the National Rally joined its voices with those of the left, facing the sparse ranks of the government coalition. The " cursed text" , tabled by centrist Senator Laurent Lafon in April 2023 and sponsored by Culture Minister Rachida Dati, will now return to a second reading in the Senate, which had already adopted it.
"Rachida Dati, resign," chanted public broadcaster employees this Monday. Several hundred employees from Radio France, France Télévisions, and the INA (National Institute of National Television) called for the withdrawal of the text proposed by Rachida Dati. This mobilization follows several days of strikes within the public broadcaster.
