To "co-construct a program" with the population, opposition councilor Guillaume Contesse is launching his association for the 2026 municipal elections in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.

To "co-construct a program" with the population, opposition councilor Guillaume Contesse is launching his association for the 2026 municipal elections in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.

"We are not launching a campaign, we are launching a dynamic," Guillaume Contesse immediately posed to an audience of around forty people. A great crowd gathered this Saturday morning at the Madame Bleue restaurant in Roquebrune to celebrate the creation of "Roquebrune au Cœur-Les Amis de Guillaume Contesse." An association, chaired by Paul Simbsler , which aims to create meetings with the population in order to "co-construct a program to arrive strong in 2026." Not in a campaign then... but almost!

"It's an open secret," he says. A comment that could apply to him, but which he addresses to Patrick Cesari. For the opposition member, there is no doubt that the outgoing mayor will run for re-election. "The difference between him and me is a difference of will and approach to things. I'm not going to criticize him; he's a mayor and was elected. But he has a job, he's an insurer. And an insurer is like a casino; he never loses. Patrick Cesari acted as mayor like a good insurer, except that, little by little, not much is happening anymore. I'm opposed to the status quo."

"Challenge us"

Guillaume Contesse says he wants to "think big about Roquebrune" and regrets the lack of connection with the population: "To co-build, you need a team and you need the support of the citizens. But if you step back and go out six months before an election to shake hands, it's because you don't pay much attention to what the citizens are saying. In a world that's changing very quickly, every lost mandate is time we'll never get back."

Surrounded by his team, which has worked on municipal operations, Guillaume Contesse now wants to open his meetings to all Roquebrune residents: shopkeepers, residents, and associations. "Challenge us. We have ideas, but we don't know everything. It's through discussion that we'll find the right solutions. I'm a builder. I won't work with wreckers or those who intimidate."

Accessibility as a "great cause"

The current opposition representative outlined the main points of his future program around several key themes : daily life with the creation of an application to report everyday problems; traffic and parking, including the extension of the 30-minute free parking period on the road to support local businesses as well as the manufacture and distribution of blue discs; commercial dynamism with the pre-emption of vacant premises to rent them at advantageous rates and encourage entrepreneurs to set up in Roquebrune; the economy, with the creation of a business center on the seafront and many others...

Regarding relations with the Principality of Monaco, Guillaume Contesse says he is "appalled by their absence." "It's our main economic activity zone since most of the Roquebrune residents work there. Monaco wants to build a 10,000-seat arena for 100 dates per year, we must help them develop this because the economic spinoff will provide jobs for the Roquebrune residents. We must ask the Principality for investments in transport services. Why is Beausoleil able to have buses and we aren't?"

On the community side , while he is considering a reduction in subsidies, he would like the municipality to cover 25% of sports fees for young people. "There is also a shortage of supervisors in leisure centers. So, as soon as they turn 18, we will pay for the Bafa [Certificate of Aptitude for the Functions of Animator in Collective Reception of Minors] training for each Roquebrunois and Roquebrunoises," he specifies. Finally, he wants to make accessibility "the great cause" of his commitment. "If we are elected, at the end of the mandate, all public buildings must be accessible to people with disabilities."

He will seek the investiture of the National Rally

The last topic discussed: the creation of a public middle school in the commune. A sensitive issue for quite some time. "I'm still weighing the pros and cons. I'm unable to give a clear answer today. But a mayor can hold a local referendum. It's a structuring issue. The people of Roquebrune must be able to express themselves and decide whether the commune should cede the land to the Department or not."

Politically, while he claims to be ideologically close to David Lisnard, it was Alexandra Masson's "vision and convictions" that won him over (he was her deputy before the dissolution).

For the 2026 election, he will seek the National Rally's nomination. But he insists: "I want to broaden this base to the entire right, and especially to civil society in line with my beliefs. There's nothing better than people who have worked to join a municipal team."
