Vote of confidence: bosses sound the alarm

François Bayrou's announcement of a vote of confidence that could lead to the fall of the government is causing concern among businesses.
Recently, in a business In France, metallurgy is slowing down. The owner, who employs 400 people, had planned to open new premises in the south of France, but the uncertain political climate could jeopardize his investments. "Instead of moving on to budgets that were already voted on last year, we may have to put them back on the table and discuss them in the management committee," explains David Da Silva, the general director of metallurgy.
He's far from the only boss worried about the future. In the halls of Roland-Garros, where the annual gathering of the large business union, the Medef, is held, political instability is on everyone's lips.
Faced with the possible fall of the government on September 8, Patrick Martin, president of the Medef (French employers' association), called on the parties to take responsibility. "Political decision-makers must rise above their partisan rivalries; this is not the direction we're heading. I'm appalled," he told the audience who attended the rally.
