Wild rave and free party: the prefect of Lot-et-Garonne turns off the sound

A decree from Daniel Barnier prohibits until September 1st and throughout the department the organization of this type of musical gatherings which have not been previously declared.
Dancing yes. Chaos no. This is essentially what we should remember from the prefectural decree of July 4, 2025, which prohibits, until September 1 , "any unauthorized festive gathering of a musical nature (free party, rave party, teknival) and prohibits any vehicle transporting sound equipment to an unauthorized musical gathering." This decision is a first.
A decision motivated by a context: that of the proliferation of events that have not received prior authorization. In France, such as in Côtes-d'Armor and Hérault. Closer to the department, in Deux-Sèvres and Lot. Or more directly in the region, with a thwarted organization attempt in Allons at the end of May. There was also this call for a musical gathering on social media for the first weekend of July.
The Prefect of Lot-et-Garonne, Daniel Barnier, also considers that these events, which bring together thousands of people, are generating public order disturbances and threaten safety regulations regarding traffic, alcohol and drug consumption, forest fires, and the protection of public and private spaces.
The ban also extends, for the same period, to the transport of sound and amplification equipment. It goes without saying that violating this ban will open the door to sanctions.
And for July 14th The festivities organized as part of the National Day also give rise to their share of restrictions. From July 13 at 6 p.m. until the following Monday at 6 a.m., the sale, purchase, distribution, and transportation of corrosive products, fuels, and combustibles are prohibited. The measure also applies to pyrotechnic articles, the use of which is prohibited on public property. Finally, the consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on roads, squares, parks, parking lots, and public gardens in all municipalities in the department.SudOuest
