Artificial intelligence sends more tech giant employees home

More than 300 Microsoft employees learned on Monday that their positions had been eliminated, Bloomberg reports.

A Microsoft spokesman said the latest job cuts are in addition to 6,000 layoffs announced last month .

- We continue to implement the organizational changes necessary to best position the company to achieve success in a dynamic market - he noted.

The artificial intelligence boom has shaken up the tech job market as companies prioritize AI-related jobs and leverage the technology to save money, Bloomberg reported.

Microsoft and its competitors, including Meta, have touted the effectiveness of AI-powered coding tools in speeding up software development. Salesforce last week said its internal use of AI had allowed it to hire fewer employees , Bloomberg reported.

Previous layoffs at the company have hit software engineers the hardest.
