Orlen signs agreement with Microsoft. Polish giant focuses on artificial intelligence

Orlen signs agreement with Microsoft. Polish giant focuses on artificial intelligence
  • The Orlen Group signed an agreement with Microsoft to implement AI solutions.
  • The cooperation assumes the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence Competence Center.
  • Digital transformation is one of the elements of the Orlen Group strategy until 2035.

Orlen has signed a software license agreement with Microsoft to implement AI solutions across the group. The new solutions will support the energy sector, as well as cybersecurity, production processes, data analysis and increase the efficiency of the group's employees.

Energy transformation is a challenge for the entire economy, which requires taking specific actions here and now. Orlen's strategy until 2035 is the largest investment program in the history of Polish energy, worth up to PLN 380 billion. This sector has already become one large construction site. We want to accelerate it even more, which is why we are reaching for tools available on the market that will support our daily work - said Orlen CEO Ireneusz Fąfara.

- The Orlen Group consists of over 200 companies located in several countries. Effective management of such a structure requires continuous exchange of information, introduction of new solutions that allow to maintain competitiveness and even better implementation of business goals. Implementation of AI in an organization with over 60 thousand people will increase the efficiency of our daily activities, relieving employees from simple, repetitive duties, allowing for much better use of unique competences. They are our most valuable resource - added Fąfara.

Orlen focuses on digital transformation throughout the group

Digital transformation is one of the key elements of the Orlen Group's strategy to 2035, announced in January . The use of digital tools and data management across the organization is an important element in the energy transformation efforts.

- We want to strengthen the digital competences of teams with solutions supporting the development and implementation of modern IT tools throughout the organization. The use of Microsoft Copilot or Agenctic IT will allow us to effectively optimize and strengthen the level of cybersecurity throughout the Orlen Group, and will also improve work efficiency and ultimately enable the achievement of synergy effects for the capital group and bring real benefits - says Robert Soszyński, Vice President for Operations at Orlen.

The signing of the agreement with Microsoft is one of the elements of achieving this strategic goal . The agreement assumes standardization and consolidation of software licenses and development of cloud technologies.

From now on, man and technology will cooperate

- Implementing artificial intelligence into an organization is a strategic decision today. Leaders who treat AI as an integral part of the operating model are not only responding to market challenges, but are starting to actively shape it. The era of organizations has begun, in which people and technology cooperate on equal terms. The aim is to create conditions in which people can focus on what is really important: making better decisions, developing innovations and building an advantage that is based not only on time or costs, but on value - comments Iwona Szylar, General Manager of Microsoft in Poland.

Based on the signed agreement, the Artificial Intelligence, Innovation and Advanced Analytics Competence Center will be established, which will act as an internal innovation incubator.
