These storms "may be accompanied by hail, wind gusts of 80 to 100 km/h, intense rainfall of around 20 to 40 mm in one to three hours and significant lightning," adds the weather forecast service. Météo France indicates that a lull is "expected in the middle of the night" and plans to lift its alert around 11 p.m.
Although the southwest of France is not currently affected, thunderstorms are expected in the evening with "very heavy rain" which could, however, "justify a change to orange alert for certain departments in Occitanie in particular" , underlines Météo France.
