The "simplification" bill, which includes the abolition of low-emission zones (LEZs), was adopted by the National Assembly on Tuesday, June 17. Renaissance MPs voted against the bill, arguing that it was "consistent" with Emmanuel Macron's commitments to competitiveness.

After three months of consideration, the National Assembly approved, on Tuesday, June 17, by 275 votes to 252, the bill to simplify economic life, aimed at reducing the administrative burden on businesses and containing the controversial abolition of low-emission zones (LEZs). A large majority of Macronist deputies from the Ensemble pour la République (EPR) group voted against (14 abstained and 8 voted for) this text submitted by Bruno Le Maire when he was Minister of the Economy. On the other hand, their partners from the MoDem and Horizons all voted for it, as did the right and the far right, while the left voted against it.
