"The best in all history": American star John Cena praises the Lyon crowd ahead of a new wrestling show in August

American wrestling star John Cena believes the crowd expected at the LDLC Arena on August 29 for WWE Friday Night Smackdown will be “the best in WWE history.”
Appearing on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show , John Cena shared his excitement ahead of WWE Friday Night SmackDown , scheduled for Friday, August 29 at the LDLC Arena in Lyon. " I've done a lot of things in my career. I've been in front of some crazy crowds. But I've never been in front of what our roster considers the best crowd in WWE history, in Lyon, France ," he said, describing himself as " lucky " to experience such a moment.
In 2024, the venue had already hosted a WWE Premium Live Event , with nearly 11,000 spectators per evening and record revenue. This year, Cena could fight one of his last fights there, as he is now moving into film. " Even at this final stage, I'm still learning. I'm still having new experiences, and I'm always grateful to be able to do that ," the wrestling legend said.
The Lyon crowd will also be able to applaud Cody Rhodes, Charlotte Flair, and Drew McIntyre at this show, which will precede the Clash in Paris at the Paris La Défense Arena on August 31 and WWE Raw the following day. Tickets for the Lyon event are already selling out.
John Cena says he's looking forward to going to France to witness the greatest wrestling crowd of all time. “I'm looking forward, in a few weeks, to going to France. I've never heard the so-called greatest crowd in WWE history.”
