"We intend to develop Ben Seghir here"... AS Monaco General Manager Thiago Scuro provides an update on the situations of Eliesse Ben Seghir and Maghnes Akliouche

Thiago Scuro did not go into detail about all the issues concerning Monaco during this summer transfer window on Thursday, at the end of the presentation of his first three arrivals of the summer, Eric Dier, Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati. The ASM General Manager did, however, mention the cases of Maghnes Akliouche and Eliesse Ben Seghir, two hot topics of the summer.

Regarding the 20-year-old Moroccan international, the CEO was quite clear. He is counting on him for the coming season, as he had already indicated last May during his end-of-season review. Even though the player, under contract until 2027, did not appreciate being a substitute during the last season.

"He's a special player and a unique talent ," the Brazilian commented. "We're very close, I know him and we know his ambitions. Eliesse had a vision at the end of the season that didn't reflect reality. He played more than 2,000 minutes last season, which is a lot. He was the seventh player to have played the most. It's our job to remind him of the plan we have for him: a career is a process, it's not one match or one goal that should change everything, it takes consistency, work, physical, technical, mental. We intend to continue to help him progress here, because his best is clearly yet to come."

Akliouche, 23, still has a release date. He trained with the rest of the squad this Thursday morning. But his departure will not come without certain conditions, as ASM would like 70 million to let him leave with three years left on his contract.

"We have our plans and we are having conversations with the players (who could leave, editor's note) . Maghnes is on the list of top European clubs and that's normal, but he must respect the conditions to leave. We also have to protect ourselves. My answer will be the same for all the other players you tell me about."
