Sunday, June 8th, was a very intense day for sports fans in Spain. After Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz's epic victory at Roland Garros, which lasted 5 hours and 29 minutes, they also spent their evening glued to their TVs watching the Nations League final. After more than two hours of play, Spain lost to Portugal on penalties (2-2, 5-3 on penalties). But it was the final of the Parisian clay-court tournament that really stood out.

The Roland-Garros final will go down in the annals of Spanish tennis. For 5 hours and 29 minutes, the Spanish thrilled with the man they call "Carlitos " here. Even though the match got off to a bad start, Ana remained confident: "Once again, he showed that he's number 1. He's incredible. He never ceases to amaze us all! When all seems lost, he wins, he wins, and he wins again!"

Trailing by two sets and a break, Alcaraz saved three match points before turning the tables. At 22, "Carlitos" has won the hearts of the Spanish thanks to his talent, his courage, but also his charisma and his likeability. Carmen was captivated: "This match, if I had to choose an adjective to describe it, it would be 'epic'. Today, I really enjoyed this match and I had sensations that I had never felt in other tennis matches."

But Carmen wasn't the only one who felt so emotional. Juan, a tennis enthusiast, never misses a single match. But everything was different in this final: "It's incredible: 5.5 hours of pure spectacle! It was very moving, with mind-blowing points on both sides. I love tennis. It was the match I enjoyed the most, even more than Nadal's, thanks to the level of both players."

"It's the longest final in the history of Roland-Garros. It was incredible!"

Nadal and his worthy successor, Alcaraz? However, the latter doesn't like these heavy comparisons. But for Eugenio, there's no doubt: "What an incredible victory! What a comeback! We thought Nadal was the only one to make these comebacks with his mental strength, but we found a worthy successor to Nadal."

But while Alcaraz won a historic victory, the Spanish football team lost to Portugal in the Nations League final. A defeat that La Roja supporter José took well: "It was a very even match, but Spain didn't really show any superiority, far from it. The truth is, you can't win everywhere. Alcaraz's victory was much more emotional than tonight's match. We won in tennis, but we lost in football. We'll do better next time." Alcaraz's epic victory also helped La Roja fans better accept their defeat.
