Pro B champions BBD were promoted to the top flight on Tuesday and must now begin preparing for the 2025-2026 season, where the challenge will be to stay up. With this in mind, the coach's contract extension was announced this Thursday evening , and now the staff can focus on the future squad.

Among the eleven professional players under contract this season, we already know that Louis Cassier will no longer be there. Indeed, the Caen club, promoted this season and finally 14th after a very good start, announced the recruitment of the Boulazac center (27 years old, 2m02) next season. Arriving from Roanne in the summer of 2022, the Nouméa native will have played, in three seasons, 85 regular season matches, seven final phase matches last year and thirteen Leaders Cup Pro B matches.

Victim of a torn calf muscle against Évreux on May 3, which deprived him of the last two matches of the season, he had already missed the playoffs through injury in 2023. But he will have played, with Boulazac, two Leaders Cup finals (2023 and 2025) and a championship final (2024), to finish with a national title.

According to the website basketeurope.com , Cassier could be followed to Normandy by his captain Clément Cavallo, with whom he had already traveled between the Loire and Dordogne. At 34, Cavallo would therefore also be leaving Boulazac through the front door.
